The project includes stabilization of an approximately 2,000 SF structure at 1407 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, involving exterior envelope repairs such as a new roof, gutters, downspouts, door replacement, and wall insulation and repair. Interior work includes demolition of existing finishes and removal of fixtures. The MAMGA Legacy Center project at 701 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue involves demolishing three ancillary structures (approximately 6,300 SF) and renovating a 2,000 SF main structure. Renovation includes a new standing seam metal roof, gutters, downspouts, soffit and rafter tail repair, window and door replacement, repointing and painting brick veneer, interior wall insulation, wood truss and deck repair, and installation of new exposed HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. The project has a 180-day completion timeframe. Bidders must be licensed general contractors in Alabama and comply with federal regulations associated with the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Fiscal Recovery Fund grant. Restoration competency requirements are in place, requiring bidders to submit detailed descriptions of two completed "similar" historic renovation projects within the last five years, each with a construction value of at least $150,000.00.
