Body Work and Paint Services for City and School Vehicles

The City of Cambridge is soliciting bids for comprehensive body work and paint services for its fleet of standard and hybrid sedans, light trucks, and SUVs, estimated at 210 vehicles, for Fiscal Year 2027. The contractor will be responsible for responding to repair notifications within one business day and arranging for tow truck transport for vehicles rendered unsafe due to body damage. Services are available for all City and School Departments, with invoicing directed to the specific department using the services. The auto body shop must be equipped with modern technology, including a three-dimensional measuring system, and all parts must be new and sourced from the original equipment manufacturer or an authorized reseller. The facility must be clean, neat, and well-lit, and the contractor must provide a written warranty on workmanship. An estimate detailing the damage and proposed repairs must be provided before commencing work, and all vehicles must be restored to their pre-accident condition. Pricing for parts will be on a bidder's cost-plus percentage markup basis, and shipping or freight charges are to be included in the cost of parts unless identified separately. No mileage charges or fuel surcharges will be allowed for repair work, except for major overhauls where charges must be included in a written estimate for prior approval. Fixed-fee pickup and delivery charges within Cambridge may be included and identified in the bid.
