Description
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is requesting proposals for Bi-2212 superconducting magnet wire. They intend to acquire two or three 10 kg billets of wire. The wire should have a bare wire diameter of 1.0 mm nominal, with an option of being further drawn to 0.8 mm. The powder should be Bi-2212 "521" composition (reference: EngiMat powder LXB-52). The outer sheath should be Ag-Mg 0.2 wt%, and the inner sheath should be pure Ag. The HTS fill factor should be 23% +- 5% nominal, with a stacking design configuration of 37 x 18 and no twisting. Intermediate annealing is optional, and the minimum piece-length should be greater than 50m.
