Description

This notice concerns a modification request for Approval Order DAQE-AN142870006-25 submitted by Western Metals Recycling, LLC. The proposed changes include increasing the number of transfer points to 23, raising the annual shredder throughput from 320,000 to 425,000 tons per year, and revising Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) and Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP) emissions calculations. These revisions are intended to align with current industry data from the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) and Omi Source Jackson, MS, as well as ISRI emission data. An engineering evaluation and air quality impact analysis have been completed, indicating that the proposed project complies with federal and state air quality regulations. The Utah Division of Air Quality intends to issue an Approval Order following a 30-day public comment period. The project proposal, air quality impact analysis, and draft Approval Order are available for public review at the Utah Division of Air Quality, 195 North 1950 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. Written comments must be received by May 15, 2026. A public hearing may be held if requested in writing within 15 days of this notice.
