This project involves the blasting and removal of existing lead-sased paint within a containment system, followed by the repainting of three steel railroad bridges that support active tracks. All work must adhere to the specifications detailed in the Bid Documents. Bidders must be prequalified by NJ Transit for "HR" Heavy Construction Rail - Operating Railroad Environment as a "GC" (General Contractors), "BG" (Bridge & Related Structures), "BB" (Boring & Blasting), and "SP" (Specialty in Lead Abatement and Bridge Painting) with a minimum rating of "I" ($1,000,001 to $2,000,000). Prequalification forms must be submitted to SArmour@NJTRANSIT.com by the bid submittal date. A site visit is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM EST at three locations on the Morristown Line: Mile Post (MP) 14.56 over Rahway River (near 7 West Parker Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040), MP 17.76 near Short Hills Station (Short Hills Avenue and Chatham Road), and MP 19.27 over Springfield Avenue (near 150 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901). Attendance at the pre-bid conference and site visit is strongly recommended. Contractors must wear appropriate safety gear and will be escorted on non-public areas. A bid bond of ten percent (10%) of the bid price is required. This project has a Zero Percent (0%) SBE/DVOB Goal.
