Wastewater Treatment Plant Modifications

The City of Independence, Iowa is soliciting bids for comprehensive modifications to its wastewater treatment plant. The project scope includes the replacement of fine screening and grit removal equipment, demolition of existing trickling filter structures, and the construction of new oxidation ditches, final clarifiers, and a RAS/WAS Pump Building. Additionally, the project involves converting disinfection from chlorine to ultraviolet, constructing aerobic digesters, and modifying the pump building to house blowers. Other work includes demolishing anaerobic digesters, modifying and constructing sludge storage, upgrading the Administration Building, constructing a storage building, and improving electrical power distribution and standby power. Site improvements such as utility and roadway enhancements, and stormwater detention construction are also part of the project, along with all necessary connections and appurtenances. The work is expected to be substantially complete by September 30, 2029, and fully completed by December 31, 2029.
