Contract Physician for Medical Officer of the Day Services

Mississippi State Hospital is seeking to hire a contract physician to serve as a Medical Officer of the Day (MOD). The physician will be responsible for providing medical care to patients, residents, and clients during after-hours, weekends, and holidays. The contract is for an average of 24 hours per week, not to exceed 1,248 hours per year, at a rate of $90.00 per hour. The contract period is approximately from August 5, 2026, to June 30, 2030. To be considered, applicants must possess a verifiable Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited medical school, have completed at least two years of a family medicine or internal medicine residency program, and hold a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Mississippi. Additionally, a current registration certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is required. Applicants must submit the names of three peer references with knowledge of their clinical practice. Successful candidates will also need to meet Mississippi State Hospital's credentialing requirements for appointment to the medical staff and have satisfactory results from a criminal background check and drug screening.
