Description

Iowa State University is soliciting bids for a new 4-row mounted GPS-controlled precision planter for use by the Plant Science Institute. The planter will be used for planting small to medium-sized research plots and must have a design that minimizes total width and length for ease of turning and transport. Key specifications include a Category 2, 3pt. mount assembly, telescoping toolbar under 102" width, tie-down points, and electronic drive precision vacuum metering units with specific seed plates for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. The system must be GPS-RTK precision guided with +/- 3 inches accuracy, capable of on-the-go population changes, and include a remote monitor for the planter operator. It should be compatible with a John Deere 5090M tractor and include a 3-person noise-canceling headset. Delivery is preferred by March 15, 2027, and training for ISU employees is required.
