Replacement Parts for Thermo Exploris Mass Spectrometer
FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), specifically the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), Division of Systems Biology (DSB), intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to Thermo Electron North America, LLC. This procurement is for replacement parts for a Thermo Exploris Mass Spectrometer, including a Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), Data Acquisition (DAQ) board, Noise Figure (NF) board, and an Instrument Control Board. The required control boards must be newly manufactured, seamlessly integrate with the Orbitrap 240 instrument without third-party parts or software, and come with a minimum one-year warranty after government acceptance. Installation is expected as soon as possible, followed by operational qualifications. Repair and installation activities must be performed by formally trained and certified Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technicians or engineers. Deliverables include service records and reports detailing the work performed, equipment serviced, and technician information. This sole-source determination is based on Thermo being the manufacturer of the system and the only authorized provider of components and service. Any replacement parts or service provided by other than Thermo would void the current warranty and service contract. No other sources have been identified as capable of providing and servicing these specific parts and services.
