Description

This solicitation is for the repair of greenhouse siding at the USDA Integrated Cropping Systems Research Center in Brookings, SD. The work involves the removal of existing stucco, foam, and wire mesh covering from the exterior walls of two greenhouses and replacement with new steel siding. The dimensions of the exterior covering for one greenhouse are approximately 100 feet long by 3 feet high on one side, 30 feet wide by 3 feet high on the end, and 100 feet long by 3 feet high on the second side, totaling approximately 230 linear feet by 3 feet high per greenhouse. The contractor will be responsible for the disposal or recycling of the removed materials. Additionally, the project includes replacing approximately 50 linear feet of 1 1/2-inch PVC pipe on the east greenhouse and 100 linear feet on the west greenhouse, and reattaching two lightning rod cables. The new steel siding will be commercial grade, a minimum of 26 gauge, and will match the color and appearance of existing steel-sided buildings, specifically "lightstone" or equivalent. Steel flashing and a J-channel will be installed to prevent weather infiltration. The contractor will provide a one-year warranty on the new exterior wall covering. Access to the greenhouse area will be coordinated with the Location Monitor, Craig McCuin.
