Animal Sheltering and Care Services for Taos County

Taos County is soliciting proposals for comprehensive animal sheltering and care services for non-feral cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens collected from the unincorporated areas of Taos County, New Mexico. The contractor will be responsible for intake, recordkeeping, care, confinement, quarantine, feeding, socialization, training, and necessary medical attention, including spay/neuter procedures and euthanasia when deemed necessary by a licensed veterinarian. The contractor will assume full ownership and responsibility for animals remaining in their care for more than seventy-two hours, making all decisions regarding their adoptability, healthcare, and ultimate disposition. Extensive record-keeping is required, including daily lists of animals, monthly reports, and maintenance of all records for at least one year. The facility must meet specific standards for animal care, and staff qualifications and licensing must be provided. Insurance requirements include comprehensive general liability, automobile insurance, workers' compensation, and professional liability insurance.
