Description

This project aims to establish a new access point for the Red Line subway tunnel, located northwest of the Charles River. The new access point will facilitate more efficient delivery of equipment, labor, and materials into the tunnel. Currently, the Red Line subway tunnel has limited access for equipment, such as Hi-Rail vehicles, and maintenance, with the only access point being east of the Kendall/MIT station, approximately four miles from Alewife Station at the First Street gate. This project seeks to address this logistical challenge by providing a more direct and efficient means of access.
