Sole Source Acquisition: Tx/Rx CP Head Coil and Software

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network/Program Contracting Office 04, is seeking to acquire a Tx/Rx CP Head Coil (#Ae, MPN 14426332) and Syngo Expert-i XA60/XA61 software (MPN 14482913) for the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. This circularly polarized, no-tune transmit/receive coil features an open, patient-friendly design with integrated transmit mode and low-noise pre-amplifiers for high signal-to-noise ratio. Its detachable upper part with a mirror and displaceable cushions enhance patient positioning and comfort, enabling high spatial resolution and short scan times. The coil is specifically required for head proton imaging and brain spectroscopy, particularly for patients with neurostimulators, a capability currently lacking at the VA Pittsburgh facility. This acquisition is being processed as a sole source due to Siemens being the sole proprietor of this product, and its proprietary software is essential for connectivity and remote access to the existing Siemens system at VA Pittsburgh.
