On-Call Civil/Structural Bridge Design and Engineering Services

Pierce County Planning and Public Works is requesting qualifications from consulting engineering firms to provide Civil/Structural Bridge Design and Related Engineering Services. The selected consultant(s) will offer civil/structural bridge engineering design services and other tasks necessary for the preparation of construction bid packages. This includes civil/structural design, load ratings, construction plans, Special Provisions, estimates, and other associated civil design work. The consultant must possess a working knowledge of AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation (MBE), Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge, and Municipal Construction, WSDOT Bridge Design Manual (BDM), WSDOT Geotechnical Design Manual (GDM), and WSDOT Hydraulics Manual, along with other applicable design standards. They must also be capable of performing complex technical work in civil and structural bridge engineering. Funding for the work may come from County, State, or Federal sources, or a combination thereof. Any work involving Federal funds must comply with current Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and/or WSDOT requirements, including those in the WSDOT Local Agency Guidelines (LAG Manual).
