The Shelby County Board of Education is soliciting bids for the supply of fresh produce for its Child Nutrition Program. The contract period is for six months, beginning July 1, 2026, and ending January 1, 2027, with an option to renew for an additional six months up to two years, provided there is mutual consent from both parties and all terms and prices remain the same. Bids must be submitted on the provided forms, sealed, and clearly marked with the bid number, opening time, and date. Late bids will not be considered. The Shelby County School System reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. Vendors are required to comply with Alabama State Bid Law and provide documentation of enrollment in the E-Verify program. A bid bond is not required. The award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder meeting specifications, considering factors beyond price such as quality, conformity with specifications, terms of delivery, and past service and experience. All produce must meet U.S. #1 grade or better, with apples requiring U.S. Fancy or Extra Fancy grade. Deliveries are to be made to each school kitchen receiving point, and products must not obstruct aisles or passageways. Substitutions, price changes, or additions must be approved by the Child Nutrition Program Department prior to delivery and invoicing. Vendors must also provide monthly usage reports for non-domestic products and a weekly summary detailing the reason for any non-domestic items.
