Description

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Abandoned Mine Land Division, intends to remediate hazards and environmental degradation stemming from abandoned mines located in Carbon County, Wyoming. This project will involve the closure of abandoned mine openings and the mitigation of other mine-related hazards. The work will be conducted in T14N, R87W, Sections 11, on lands managed by the United States Forest Service. The abandoned underground mine workings are a result of past coal, metal, and mineral mining practices and pose risks to public safety, the environment, and general welfare. This project falls under the Wyoming Abandoned Mines Program, authorized by W.S. SSSS 35-11-1201 through 1207 and associated regulations.
