Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 23, is seeking information on the availability and capability of businesses to provide blood products, reference laboratory testing, and apheresis services for the Omaha VA Medical Center. This is a Sources Sought notice to determine if socioeconomic, small business, or unrestricted procedures will be used for a future solicitation. The contractor will be responsible for collecting, processing, storing, and delivering human blood components and derivatives. Services include stocking and maintaining leukoreduced red blood cell units, blood components, and plasma derivatives, procured from volunteer donors and tested according to AABB standards and FDA regulations. The contractor must also provide reference laboratory testing services, which are available 24/7 and require CLIA certification. Therapeutic apheresis services will be provided at the customer's location, involving the separation and removal of blood components, reinfusion of unused portions, and infusion of replacement fluids as ordered by a physician. Deliveries of blood products are required within specific timeframes, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays, and must maintain appropriate temperatures during transport.
