Description

This procurement requires the design and fabrication of six (6) specialized storage and shipping containers for LCS-2 variant LM2500 removal rails. The containers must protect the rails from shipping damage and inclement weather. The scope of work also includes updating professional drawings for a prototype container to improve its design and functionality. Key requirements for the containers include: - Dimensions: 25'x4.5'x4' - Forklift accessibility: Increased riser height to 4" for larger forklifts. - Stackability: Capable of supporting the load of three containers plus 7,500 lbs of rails. - Lid: Resealable, waterproof, and secured with a robust locking mechanism. - Construction: Water-resistant and corrosion-resistant exterior, including hardware. - Lifting points: Container body-mounted fixtures for crane lifting. - Reinforcement: Horizontal crossbars and improved welding for lid and vertical supports. - Lid handles: Four sets of handles for easier lifting. - Label plate: A pocket for documents and identification. The contractor will be responsible for updating the container design drawings and fabricating one prototype for review and approval. Upon approval, five additional containers will be fabricated, bringing the total to six. The contract also includes requirements for a Contract Status Report and Developmental Design Drawings/Models.
