Media Relations Assistant Services for USAO Southern District of Mississippi

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Mississippi (USAO-MSS) requires a Media Relations Assistant to develop and execute a media strategy that aligns with the USAO's strategic plan and operational goals. The contractor will be responsible for publicizing the USAO's initiatives through various media channels to deter criminal conduct, raise public awareness, and strengthen relationships with law enforcement partners. Key duties include writing and editing news releases, planning and coordinating press conferences, drafting op-eds, identifying speaking opportunities, responding to media inquiries, and monitoring social media. The position requires at least ten years of demonstrated experience in a similar role, proficiency in Microsoft Office, a valid driver's license, and a ten-year minimum background investigation. The contract will be a labor hour contract with a base year and four twelve-month option periods, with an estimated level of effort of 1,500 hours per year. Work will be performed at the Contractor's office and potentially other sites, with the USAO-MSS located at 501 E. Court Street, Suite 4.430, Jackson, MS 39201.
