Alloy Steel Forged Bar for Watervliet Arsenal

This solicitation is for the procurement of SAE 4340 alloy steel forged bar, meeting SAE AMS6409 or SAE AMS6414 specifications. The required dimensions are 1.250" O.D. +.0000"/-.0003" x 48" -.000/+.125", with increments of 1' only. The material must be in a liquid quenched and tempered condition, with a hardness of 38-42HRC, and turned, ground, and polished to .005" straightness per foot. Merchant quality and free-machining grades are not allowed. Specific heat lot numbers must be marked on each article if the material lot contains multiple heat lots. The final draw/tempering temperature and data must be included in the certification package, and a certified test report is required with each shipment. Inspection is also required. The government intends to award one Firm Fixed Price purchase order.
