Description

Washington County has implemented Information Technology Policy #3007, establishing a comprehensive governance structure for Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems. This policy aims to provide clear guidance for employees, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in purchasing, configuring, developing, operating, or maintaining AI systems, ensuring adherence to guiding principles and managing associated risks. The policy emphasizes human-centered design, security and safety, privacy, transparency, equity, accountability, effectiveness, and workforce empowerment. It defines roles and responsibilities, including those of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the IT Security Manager, and outlines prohibited uses of AI systems, such as submitting nonpublic data to public AI systems or engaging in social scoring. Violations of the policy may result in disciplinary action or breach of contract.
