Description

The United States Air Force is conducting market research to identify sources with the expertise to deliver a hardware and software system solution for the C-5M Replacement Multi-Functional Controls and Displays (RMCD) program. This new system aims to resolve diminishing manufacturing source issues with the legacy Multi-Function Display Units (MFDUs), prevent aircraft grounding due to parts obsolescence, and enhance overall aircraft availability. The solution must comply with applicable military and aviation standards to achieve military airworthiness certification upon integration onto the C-5M aircraft, with a priority on using the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA). The contractor will be responsible for providing sufficient system quantities for integration activities at both contractor and government Systems Integration Laboratories (SIL), as well as for prototype installations and subsequent ground and flight testing. A product baseline, including detailed documentation of physical characteristics, configuration items, and build-to specifications for hardware and software, will be required. Software development is expected to follow an agile at scale framework. All necessary materials, support equipment, tools, and test equipment will be furnished by the contractor. Contractor-furnished materials must meet or exceed the quality of original parts. Participation in this market research does not guarantee future solicitation or award, and the government will not reimburse any associated expenses.
