Description

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is soliciting bids for overlay and chip seal services on US 191, specifically between Mile Post 45.0 and 47.9, south of the MT-64 Junction near Bozeman. The project requires the contractor to provide all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals for producing, hauling, placing, and compacting approximately 8,170 tons of 3/4" Commercial Plant Mix Grade S PG 58V-34 asphalt mix material for the overlay. The overlay will be 0.15 feet thick and approximately 50 feet wide, with a raked transition for a smooth grade change. Additionally, the contractor will furnish all necessary resources for producing, hauling, placing, rolling, and brooming approximately 84,420 square yards of laid-in-place chip seal, approximately 2.9 miles long and 50 feet wide, using CHFRS asphalt emulsion and Type 1 chips. The department will provide traffic control and final striping. The contractor is responsible for test trailer, transport, and setup, and for all private property damage claims. Work is required to be completed between July 1, 2026, and June 20, 2027.
