Rare Plant Survey for ATV Trail Expansion

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of State Parks and Trails requires a rare plant survey for a proposed ATV trail expansion at the Iron Range Off Highway Vehicle Park. The new trail is approximately 1.95 miles in length. The survey should be completed by August 31, 2026. The contractor will be responsible for pre-field duties, including reviewing species lists and obtaining necessary permits. A complete and independent rare plant survey of the project site is required, following specific guidance for data recording, submission, and specimen collection. Spatial GIS data must be provided using sub-meter accurate GPS equipment. If rare plants are found, the contractor must notify the project manager within 3 business days, and any additional areas for survey will be provided by the DNR within one week. A final summary report, including photos and a table of findings, is due by December 31, 2026.
