This project involves the redevelopment of the existing ice rink and pool area to create a skate park and mini pitch soccer fields. Key aspects of the work include selective site demolition, drainage improvements, new concrete installation, earthwork, subgrade base improvements, and fence refurbishment. The project also incorporates improvements to be installed via co-op purchase agreements for the skate park, two mini-pitch soccer fields, and a park shelter. Bidding documents are available for viewing and download from www.hwcplanroom.com starting May 7th, 2026. Electronic copies are available for a non-refundable fee, and printed copies can be ordered at printing cost plus shipping. Plans and specifications can also be examined at the Jean Shepherd Community Center starting May 15th. All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the City of Hammond Parks Department by 4 p.m. local time on Thursday, June 11th, 2026. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 21st, at 10:00 AM in the Hammond Civic Center Park Board Room. Bidders are required to submit a certified check or bidder's bond for at least five percent (5%) of the highest aggregate bid, and performance and payment bonds of 100% of the contract price will be required upon award.
