Yukon River Salmon Research and Management Assistance
DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is administering the Yukon River Salmon Research and Management Assistance (R&M Fund) through financial assistance on a competitive basis. This funding opportunity supports cooperative research and management projects on the Alaska portion of the Yukon River, focusing on Chinook and Chum salmon stocks. The goal is to advance the scientific and public understanding of salmon biology and management. Projects are expected to be one year in length, with funding supporting work beginning in May 2026 and activities completed in early 2028. Applicants are encouraged to incorporate local capacity from Yukon River communities and coordinate with state and federal agencies. Eligible entities include individuals, institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, and various government entities. The estimated total program funding is $260,000, with individual awards typically ranging from $30,000 to $80,000.
