Request for Information: Commingled Organics Pre-Processing Equipment
New York DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION
The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to gather details from equipment manufacturers and suppliers regarding systems capable of processing commingled source-separated organics (SSO) at a rate of 35 tons per hour. The goal is to enhance material separation and processing efficiency, ensure compliance with NYSDEC operating requirements, and achieve a high organics capture rate (target >75%) for composting feedstock. The RFI outlines the need for equipment that can handle seasonal variations in SSO composition, produce a uniform particle size and homogenous feedstock for composting, and ensure all pre-processing occurs within an enclosed building. The proposed new pre-processing structure will be approximately 24,000 square feet. DSNY is also seeking information on alternative proposals or pre-processing options that meet these objectives. This RFI is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation for services or products.
