Description

This opportunity, under the National Institute of Food and Agriculture's Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI), seeks to fund research aimed at studying agriculturally significant crops and animals. The initiative focuses on understanding genes and germplasm, enhancing genetic improvement, and reducing the economic impact of pathogens on crops and animals vital to the United States' agriculture sector. Findings are to be disseminated to relevant audiences. Eligibility is broad, encompassing state agricultural experiment stations, colleges and universities, university research foundations, other research institutions and organizations, federal agencies, national laboratories, private organizations, foundations, corporations, individuals, or any group of two or more of these entities. A consortium of eligible entities is encouraged to apply. The funding instrument is a grant, with an estimated total program funding of $1,827,495. Awards are expected to range from $300,000 to $900,000, and cost sharing is required.
