Description

The Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI) program aims to address critical needs within the specialty crops industries by awarding grants. These grants will support research and extension activities focused on key challenges of national, regional, and multi-state importance in sustaining all components of food and agriculture, including both conventional and organic production systems. The program acknowledges that projects involving specialty crops grown in a limited number of states may face difficulties in addressing their multi-state nature. With the exception of Research and Extension Planning Projects, the SCRI program exclusively considers projects that integrate both research and extension activities. Applicants are strongly encouraged to propose innovative approaches to solving problems within the specialty crop industry, utilizing a systems-based methodology.
