Description

This project involves the removal of existing traffic striping and pavement markings, and the painting of new traffic striping and pavement markings. The work will be performed along South Gilbert Street from Highway 6 to McCollister Boulevard, Sunset Street from Highway 1 to Benton Street, and Mormon Trek Boulevard southeast of the Highway 1 intersection. All work must be in strict compliance with the Project Manual prepared by the City of Iowa City's Public Works - Engineering Division. The specified start date is May 18, 2026, with substantial completion required by July 17, 2026, and final completion by July 31, 2026. Liquidated damages are set at $250 per day for failure to meet the substantial completion date. Bidders are advised that the City of Iowa City desires to employ minority contractors and subcontractors. Preference must be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa Statutes. The Iowa reciprocal resident bidder preference law applies to this project.
