Crawford County Commissioners intend to submit an application to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for a State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program. The CDBG funds, estimated at $500,000, will be used for owner-occupied rehabilitation of homes within the county limits. An additional $68,875 in local funds on hand will also be expended on the project. The program is funded by Title I of the Federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, and the entirety of the requested CDBG funds are intended to benefit low- and moderate-income persons. A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 3:30 P.M. local time, at the Crawford County Judicial Complex, 715 Judicial Plaza Dr, English, IN 47118. This hearing is to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed federally funded CDBG project. Information related to the project will be available for review prior to the hearing at the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission, 221 E. First Street, Ferdinand, IN 47532 during regular business hours. Written comments should be submitted to Jenny Matheis at the same address no later than June 22, 2026.
