City of Thousand Oaks Library
The City of Thousand Oaks is soliciting proposals for professional aquarium maintenance services for the Grant R. Brimhall Library. The scope of work includes the regular maintenance, cleaning, care, and feeding of the fish within the 3,600-gallon saltwater aquarium. The contractor will also be responsible for providing emergency care for the fish and the tank, including addressing issues like power failures, tank leaks or breakages, and sick or dying fish. Services will encompass weekly on-site maintenance such as monitoring and maintaining water quality, performing water changes with filtered saltwater, cleaning the reef and tank walls, and stirring/vacuuming the gravel. The contractor must also provide a plan for natural disaster emergency response and offer quarantine facilities for new stock, including removal of ill fish and a month-long quarantine period to ensure disease-free conditions. Replacement of sick or dead fish for 45 days after purchase, along with all necessary medications, is also included. The contract is expected to be for a three-year period with an annual option to renew.
