Description

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (Department) is seeking proposals for agricultural opportunities on the Rome Wildlife Management Area (WMA). This area, comprising 1,204 acres, includes wetlands, grasslands, agriculture, shrubland, and forest, and is located approximately 4 miles west of the Town of Rome in Oneida County. The Department maintains certain areas in grain crops, such as corn and soybeans, to meet habitat management goals and provide opportunities for wildlife-dependent recreation, including hunting. These agricultural fields support various species, including wild turkeys and white-tailed deer. The Department is looking to contract with enterprises to manage these agricultural aspects of the WMA.
