Crapser,Susan K
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is soliciting bids for the invasive buckthorn treatment project in the Thief River Falls area. This project involves labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, and incidentals necessary to cut and/or chemically treat invasive buckthorn using herbicide and hand mechanical cutting methods. The treatment will cover approximately 158.9 acres across Valley WMA in Marshall County and Higinbotham WMA in Pennington County, Minnesota. The work is structured into two years of treatment. Year one will focus on an initial treatment, followed by a second year dedicated to a follow-up treatment for any re-sprouts or missed plants. Specific treatment options include foliar spray, basal bark application, and cut stump treatment, with detailed specifications for each, including approved herbicides and application methods. All herbicide applications must comply with state regulations and pollinator best management practices.
