Description

The Employment Development Department (EDD) of the State of California is soliciting bids for daily mail courier services. The services will be provided for the EDD facility located at 297 W. Hedding Street, San Jose, CA 95110. The contract term is set to begin on August 1, 2026, or upon final approval, and will extend through April 30, 2029. The scope of work includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, vehicles, and obtaining all necessary licenses, permits, and insurance. The contractor will be responsible for picking up mail daily, Monday through Friday (excluding State holidays), from the U.S. Post Office at 105 North 1st, San Jose, CA 95106, and delivering it to the EDD office by 10:30 a.m. The service also includes returning empty mail trays, picking up and delivering "postage due" mail, and handling certified and registered mail, including securing all necessary signatures. The contractor must ensure the security of the mail from pickup to delivery and provide identification for all courier service employees. A valid Motor Carrier Permit is required if the vehicle's total weight exceeds 10,000 lbs.
