Description

This project involves the replacement of approximately 1,600 linear feet of existing 10-inch cast iron force main with a new 10-inch ductile iron (DIP) force main. The new alignment will extend from City Pump Station 113, located on Morgans Lane, to a connection with the existing 16-inch DIP force main along Birdneck Road. The City of Virginia Beach encourages the equitable participation of vendors in City Contracting and has adopted a 12% minority contracting aspirational goal. Bidders intending to use subcontractors must submit a SWAM certified subcontractor participation plan. If the contractor intends to self-perform all work, they should affirmatively state this intent. Failure to meet subcontracting requirements or provide good faith efforts documentation may result in the bid being deemed non-responsive. The project specifications detail various requirements for submittals, including shop drawings, material certifications, and record drawings. The Contractor is responsible for maintaining updated record drawings throughout the project and submitting them upon completion. Additionally, the project requires adherence to pollution prevention measures, including dust control, proper management of de-watering effluent, solid waste disposal, and spill response activities.
