The City of Norfolk is soliciting bids for vehicle and autobody repair services to support its diverse fleet of approximately 2,000 vehicles. This includes sedans, police cruisers, pickup trucks, vans, specialty vehicles, large trucks, and fire apparatus. The scope covers vehicles from 1000 lbs. GVW up to Class 8 (over 33,001 GVW). The City intends to award contracts to multiple vendors who can demonstrate first-class professional workmanship. Contractors will be responsible for performing work at their own facilities using their own equipment and labor, with no subcontracting permitted. Key requirements include maintaining necessary licenses and certifications, having an OSHA-approved paint booth, a minimum of three inside repair bays (excluding the paint booth), and certified repairmen by ASE or a mutually acceptable program. All repairs must be authorized in writing by the City, and estimates must be provided within two days of request. The City will assign work based on requested repair timeframes and the lowest total cost estimate.
