The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Veterans Affairs, Thomson-Hood Veterans Center (THVC) is seeking proposals for medical laboratory services. The services will be provided to residents of the 285-bed long-term care skilled nursing center located in Wilmore, KY. The scope of work includes providing laboratory services as ordered by physicians/nurse practitioners, integrating test results with the PointClickCare electronic medical record platform, and complying with all federal and state laws and regulations governing laboratory services. The vendor will also be responsible for providing orientation and in-services to THVC staff, ensuring all representatives have mandatory background checks, and managing billing for all tests through Medicare Part B, private insurance, or directly to THVC for non-covered benefits. The vendor will provide a schedule for phlebotomy services and specimen pickup, with unscheduled pickups available seven days a week. "Panic" levels and test results are to be phoned immediately and printed, with all tests processed and results reported within 24 hours of collection. "Stat" requests will be reported within two hours, and re-testing will be performed upon request if accuracy is questioned. Phlebotomy services will not be performed before 5:00 am without consent. The laboratory must adhere to THVC policies, including HIPAA/Confidentiality, Resident Abuse, Resident Rights, and Infection Control, with annual on-site staff training. The vendor must maintain required insurances and comply with federal and state vaccination regulations. Travel and lodging costs are the responsibility of the vendor.
