Description

The North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA) program is seeking proposals for projects in Canada that focus on the protection, improvement, restoration, and management of wetland ecosystems and associated habitats. The goal is to maintain and improve migratory bird populations, particularly waterfowl, in alignment with international conservation plans. Projects should demonstrate partnerships and encourage sustainable, long-term conservation efforts. Eligible activities include the acquisition of real property interests in wetlands and associated habitats, as well as the restoration, management, or enhancement of these ecosystems. A minimum 1:1 non-federal match is required, with at least 50% of the match originating from U.S. sources. Proposals should clearly outline how activities will benefit migratory birds and their habitats, and how they align with national and regional conservation plans.
