Description

The Central Alabama VA Medical Center intends to complete a fire alarm replacement/upgrade for existing buildings 14, 15, 65, 68, 88, 90, 93, and 97. The campus has an obsolete fire alarm fiber optic network with network interface cards that are no longer in production. The existing network connects all nodes on campus with a single multimode 6-strand fiber. The Graphical Command Center for the network is located in Building 15. The fiber optic backbone is in very poor condition. This fiber network along with all existing network interface cards, FACPs, and the GCC present a significant risk to the facility and the safety of patients and staff. Mass-notification calls are being made over the overhead paging system because no voice/alarm functionality can be made campus-wide through the fire alarm system. Amendments have been issued to extend the solicitation due date and provide RFI answers.
