Wood Pole Inspection and Treatment Program

Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) is soliciting proposals for wooden utility pole inspections and treatment services. The scope of work includes visual inspections, sound and bore inspections for internal decay, partial and full excavations, inspection of reinforced poles, and various treatment methods including internal and external groundline treatment. The services will be performed within RPU's service territory, which serves approximately 60,000 electric customers across roughly forty square miles. The awarded contract's base bid work is expected to be completed by December 31, 2026, with alternate bid pricing for subsequent years. Services encompass data collection, reporting, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including proper handling and disposal of pesticides.
