Real Estate Brokerage Services for Tax-Acquired Properties

The City of Ellsworth is requesting proposals from qualified, licensed Maine real estate brokers to provide services for the marketing and sale of tax-acquired properties. This initiative is in response to recent changes in Maine law that mandate a market-based approach for municipalities selling these properties, ensuring fair market value and a transparent, equitable process. Tax-acquired properties are those that the City obtains due to unpaid property taxes after the legal foreclosure process. The City currently manages approximately 25 such properties, with more acquired annually.
