Autopsy Services for VA Palo Alto Health Care System

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a contractor to provide accredited Pathology Physician Services off-site for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Services include anatomical autopsy services, including gross and microscopic examinations, with and without examination of the brain/central nervous system, limited autopsies, and necropsies. The contract also includes administrative fees for the Office of Decedent Affairs and transportation services within the Bay Area Mortuary. Physicians must be board-certified in Anatomic Pathology or Forensic Pathology and perform services at a facility accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) or the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). All services must meet or exceed The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. The period of performance is a base year plus four option years, from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2031.
