The City of Southfield is holding a public hearing on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. Eastern Daylight Savings Time, to discuss the Five-Year Consolidated Plan 2026-2030 and the proposed use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Annual Action Plan for Program Year 2026-2027. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has allocated $410,961 to the City for this program year. Funds are proposed to be used for housing programs, including the Southfield Home Improvement Program ($67,124.65) and the Chore Program ($200,000), as well as public services such as the Human Services Emergency Relief Program ($41,644.15) and the Food Bank - Cares ($20,000). Approximately 20% of the grant ($80,192.20 for administration and $2,000 for fair housing) will be used for administrative costs. The public is invited to comment on the Consolidated Plan and the proposed use of Block Grant funds for at least 30 calendar days before submission to HUD. The comment period begins May 21, 2026, and ends June 29, 2026. The public hearing will be streamed on the City of Southfield Website.
