]waste hauler contracts
The City of Denton Landfill is soliciting bids for commercial waste hauler contracts, also known as put-or-pay agreements, for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026, and extending through September 30, 2028. These contracts align with the City of Denton's Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Strategy to generate revenue for the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund and guarantee disposal capacity within North Texas. A total of 150,000 tons will be allocated across all third-party disposal contracts. Waste haulers will have the option to utilize the City of Denton Landfill for excess volume at the established external gate rate. Key terms include a minimum bid of $40.00 per ton for available tons, with a separate minimum charge of $26.50 per ton for each load delivered. Failure to meet guaranteed tonnage will result in a settlement charge for the shortfall. Sludge and clean brush are excluded from guaranteed tonnage and preferred pricing. Penalties for late payments will be strictly enforced, with access to the landfill suspended for overdue accounts. The City of Denton Solid Waste Department is the exclusive provider within city limits; unauthorized service provision will lead to landfill access suspension. Submissions must be in PDF format on company letterhead, detailing the company's tonnage needs and the value per ton. Contract partners will be selected based on the highest tonnage price, credit rating, payment history, and established frequency of use. The City intends to award a maximum of three contracts. All submitted price/tonnage proposals will remain valid until approved by the Denton City Council.
