Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking herbicide application services to treat invasive Chinese tallow trees (Triadica sebifera) across approximately 308 acres on the Big Pond Unit of the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge. The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary herbicides, surfactants, drift control agents, personnel, equipment, and supervision for aerial application. The period of performance is four months, from August 1st to November 30th, 2026, with herbicide application ideally occurring between September 1st and October 31st during leaf senescence. The application rate for Clearcast, IMOX, or Castaway (active ingredient: ammonium salt of imazamox 12.1%) is specified as 128 fluid ounces per acre. The work aims to control invasive species and allow for the growth of beneficial native plants, improving wildlife habitat within the Columbia Bottomlands ecosystem.
