Description

The State of Montana, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) is soliciting bids for noxious weed management services. The scope of work includes a one-time summer or fall weed spraying application to exterminate noxious weeds across approximately 78 acres. The treatment areas include the road running surface, skid trails, cut and fill slopes, adjacent lands within 25 feet of the road running surface, and areas inside harvest units and burned slash piles within the project areas. Equipment requirements specify the use of boom application systems, all-terrain vehicles with boomless sprayers, and handline applicators or backpack sprayers for specific sites. Equipment must be capable of applying herbicide up to 25 feet from the road edge and must be in good mechanical condition. Applicators must use nozzles that minimize drift and non-target effects, and all spray equipment will be inspected daily for leaks. The contractor must comply with all state and federal regulations pertaining to herbicide application, and all herbicides will be applied according to label instructions. A map or shapefile of treatment locations and weed infestations must be provided to the DNRC. The contractor must notify the MT DNRC, Bozeman Unit, 24 hours in advance of spraying and at the beginning of each day's activity. A record of chemical usage and estimated treatment acres must be submitted within 14 days of project completion. Spraying must be performed by a licensed applicator who will be on-site at all times. Herbicides shall only be mixed at locations that prevent contamination of water bodies, and empty containers must be disposed of properly. Spraying will be restricted under certain weather conditions (temperatures >85°F, wind speed >7 mph, or expected rain within 6 hours). An Emergency Spill Plan must be provided to the State. A pre-work meeting with the DNRC Contract Officer is required before work begins. Payment will be based on accepted completed work.
