The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), is requesting applications for the 2026 fiscal year Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP). This program aims to support the development, coordination, and expansion of direct producer-to-consumer markets to increase access to and availability of locally and regionally produced agricultural products. Approximately $13.84 million is available to fund eligible projects, with award ceilings ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 depending on the project type. A 25% cost share is required for all projects. Eligible applicants include agricultural businesses or cooperatives, community supported agriculture (CSA) networks, economic development corporations, local governments, nonprofit corporations, producer networks or associations, public benefit corporations, regional farmers market authorities, and tribal governments. Projects can be categorized into Capacity Building, Community Development Training and Technical Assistance (CTA), Turnkey Marketing and Promotion, or Turnkey Recruitment and Training, each with specific funding ranges and durations. The program focuses on promoting direct sales, developing value-added products, facilitating regional food chain coordination, and reducing food waste.
