Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) requires the procurement of one 17-19ft diesel inboard rescue boat to replace the current Viking NorSafe Midget-530 Mk I Rescue Boat assigned to the NOAA Ship Oregon II. The replacement boat must be SOLAS certified and compatible with the existing Schat-Harding Miranda Davit and Schat-Harding BHY 5300 Winch. Key requirements include a rigid hull of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) or Aluminum, a length overall between 17-19ft, a top weight not exceeding 2500 kg, and a 12 VDC bilge pump. Propulsion must be an inboard marine diesel engine, EPA Tier III compliant or better, with a jet drive or propeller drive capable of achieving a plane speed of 15-17 knots with two persons aboard. The boat must have a fuel capacity for at least 4 hours of operation at maximum speed. The console must include a comprehensive instrumentation panel, a lighted magnetic compass, and separate throttle and bucket controls if a jet drive is installed. The electrical system will be 12-volt DC with two AGM batteries and a 50-volt AC battery charger compatible with shipboard power. The boat must also include a VHF Radio with DSC, LED navigation lights, a horn, and a circuit-breaker system. Equipment requirements include a Danforth-style anchor, a weather-resistant console cover, a fire extinguisher, an initial spare parts package, and a full boat cover.
