Hunting, Grazing, and Trapping Lease for Section 16
Vermilion Parish School Board
The Vermilion Parish School Board is soliciting sealed bids for a lease on Sixteenth Section land. This lease will permit hunting, grazing, and trapping, with the exclusion of alligator hunting and trapping. The property is approximately 320 acres, located south of the Warren Ditch. Bidders should be aware of a conservation servitude on the property, details of which can be obtained in the bid packet. The successful bidder will be responsible for maintaining 40 acres of cleared land to prevent brush and tree overgrowth. Bids may be for a period not to exceed five years, with a minimum annual bid of $2,800.00. The lease will commence on June 18, 2026. Bidders must adhere to regulations set forth by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission regarding alligator hunting and trapping, and must not assign, sublease, or transfer their lease. The first year's rental payment must accompany the bid proposal form, and payment must be made by certified or cashier's check. The lessee will also be responsible for their portion of the Vermilion Parish School Board's blanket insurance policy premium.
